We googled the best places to have coffee in Old Montreal and this place came up well worth the visit for the architecture alone it was the Royal Bank built in 1926.
The Crew Collective Cafe, a mecca for free lance workers or students networking. The Crew collective has taken up the Royal Bank space and redesigned it but kept all the old elements. Behind the teller windows are office spaces.
The interior has relaxed seating as well as long tables where you can spend all day studying or working with your computer for no charge.
There are separate areas which you rent for the day, week or month to set up meetings with clients. Or just like us drop in for coffee and lunch and enjoy the wonderful ambiance and architecture.

MAC in Montreal, Art by Rafael Lozano-Hemmer
Vicious Circle Breathing. This exhibit comes with a warning "enter at your own risk" The glass box is hermetically sealed the breath of previous participants are kept circulating by the action of the bellows which inflate and deflate the paper bags around 10,000 times a day (approximately the normal respiratory frequency for an adult at rest). I had a cold at the time so thought it better not to enter the glass box as you are locked in for a certain amount of time.
